Atlanta Church Creatives originated from Ellis' search for community after relocating to Atlanta shortly before the pandemic. He discovered that many others shared his desire for connection and support within the local church's creative community.

In 2015, Ellis Maryland’s life changed course. It wasn’t a burning bush, but God began prodding him toward a different path from his job with a mortgage company.
